Sun Salutations सूर्य नमस्कार

Based on the classical Hatha Yoga lineage from Sivananda, this two hour workshop shares the Surya Namaskara known as the Sun Salutations. This yogic sequence identifies the Sun as the soul and source of all life. The solar/sun energy in your body is your masculine energy. The lunar/moon energy in your body is your feminine energy. Everyone has both. This is vital to keep in balance to nourish our mind, body and soul. 

This is an excellent warm-up exercise performed in the morning, consisting of 12 different spinal positions that moves the body in all directions. The Sun Salutations give a varied range of vertebral movements to the spine and promote flexibility in the limbs of the body. 300 - 500 muscles are used. The Sun Salutations aids the body in the rapid gain of flexibility while regulating the breath and focusing the mind. This sequence also creates a good flow of pranic energy in the body and thus sets into motion an energetic feeling that remains throughout the day. 

Through this yoga practice, we apply the most basic breathing technique that is taught in the Pranayama (basics) workshop which will be briefly reviewed here.

Pranayama Basics प्राणायाम मूल बातें

Your breath determines the quality of your life. Your breath is like a river. Sometimes shallow. Sometimes deep. Always rising and sinking. Are you in sync with your breathing? Or is stress, anxiety, and fear depriving your breath? 

Pranayama is one of the most transformative Yoga practices. You can use the breath to calm, ground, and balance ourselves, energize the body and the mind. When you focus, guide, and control your breath, you can send a signal to the nervous system that you are safe, and everything is ok. Our brain relies critically on a constant source of oxygen and this also supports our circulatory and immune systems. To feel alive, vibrant, and have a greater sense of wellbeing, we want the energy of our bodies to flow freely.  In the human body, this energy is expressed through the breath. 

When you own your breath, nobody can disturb your inner peace.

This two-hour workshop shares basic yet critical breathing techniques to support your mind and body find your comfortable union with your breath.

Moon Salutations चंद्र नमस्कार

This two hour workshop offers you a gentler form of the yogic sequence of Moon Salutations that works well for any level of experience and skill. The focus is on the flow and the flexibility the abdominal breath and asanas supports your mind and body to develop. 

To align with the moon’s cycles, you can practice this sequence of poses to honor the new moon or full moon. The Moon Salutation refers to a sequence of yoga poses that helps you calm the central nervous system and prepare your body for rest. Moon Salutation is performed during the night. The solar/sun energy in your body is your masculine energy. The lunar/moon energy in your body is your feminine energy. Everyone has both. This is vital to keep in balance to nourish our mind, body and soul.

7 Chakras Dance 7 चक्र नृत्य *

*For who those who already completed the full 10-week 7 Chakra Yoga course. We are delighted to offer this two-hour Chakra Dance workshop. 

Chakras, in Sanskrit, mean wheels of light. The nature of chakras is to spin wheels of energy to create a combination of energy and life force. After we already identified where each chakra is represented in the physical body and elements that govern the chakras which influence our mind and body. Now together we explore a natural flow type of dance to balance and spin vibrantly our seven major chakras. As a result, we experience a sense of joy, wholeness, and contentment.

This includes applying our abdominal breathing to support our inner, natural movement through our soul dance. Union with Unconditional Love. Yourself, myself, ourselves, united with unconditional love.

Deafhood Yoga has offered Prenatal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Yoga at Deaf schools, Family Yoga, Adults, Chair Yoga, Elders/Senior Citizens, Private Sessions, consultations, Beach Yoga, Retreats, and Free CommUnity Yoga. Deafhood Yoga® was one of the first to explore, build, and continue the concept of online yoga studios in 2013 and in the Fall of 2021 Deafhood Yoga® released its App in the Apple and Google Stores. 

We offer several course options; 5 Petals of Life®, 7 Chakras Yoga, 8 Limbs of Yoga and Stretch-In Yoga. All are wholistic yoga classes that build the foundation of your yoga practice; to take your personal yoga practice to a much deeper level. You benefit from a wealth of information beyond just the yoga exercises (Asanas) that you still have access to after you complete the courses on this platform.
